GENERAL QUESTIONS
RESPECT & COMMUNICATION
We're here to have fun! Keep IC and OOC separate and make sure you respect your fellow players! If you feel that someone is ignoring this rule, contact the mods as soon as possible.16 + PLAYER (NOT CHARACTER) AGE
The game will sometimes deal with heavy concepts. We also allow adult logs if they are locked to the proper community (lurv) and clearly marked for those who wish to avoid them. You can lead to a link to the community if a log suddenly turns into anything 18+ related.Since we allow child characters, they cannot be involved in those types of logs for any reason.
META, INFOMODDING & THE 4TH WALL ON CASE-TO-CASE BASIS
Remember that some players may want to keep the nature of their character a surprise! If your character comes from the same world, make sure you talk with your castmate(s) to make sure you know what they are planning.Remember to create a permissions post as needed, and make sure any arrangements made are respected.
If your character would know the character via their own canon, confirm with the other player(s) fist. We do allow this, but only if both players are in agreement with each other.
ACTIVITY CHECKS & REQUIRED ACTIVITY
Activity Checks are held every month from the 1st to the 5th. (Note: These dated may change. This part will be removed when the dates are official.)Required Activity:
OPTION ONE:
โถ A network post, log, or open top-level. The number of replies is unimportant.
ALONG WITH
โถ 15 total comments. You may combine comments from multiple threads to reach this amount. (We'll be lenient here. As long as it doesn't happen every month, we may choose to accept totals of 13 or 14.)
OPTION 2:
โถ 20 total comments. You may combine comments from multiple threads to reach this amount. (Again, as long as it doesn't happen every month, we may choose to accept totals of 18 or 19.)
New characters accepted during an AC period are exempt from full AC for that period, but must check in to the AC post and give us 1 proof of activity.
HIATUS AND STRIKES
โถ For a hiatus to exempt you from AC, it must cover at least two weeks and you must post your hiatus comment before the last week of the AC period.
โถ If a player fails to make AC, they will receive a strike. You may not request a strike two months in a row. For a strike to be cleared, you must make AC for the next to months.
โถ If a player idles out of the game, they cannot reapply for the character(s) they idled out with for two application cycles.
OFFICIAL RELEASE APPLICATION RULE
We ask that you wait four weeks after the official release of a canon to apply from it. You can reserve and apply if the 4 weeks will have passed by the time the character is accepted. You can also post in the test drive, but make sure to warn for spoilers .We prioritize the English release date unless there are no plans for localization. If you think there are unique circumstances that might make your character eligible to app despite upcoming release dates, please contact the mods so we can look over your request.
HMDS
HMD posts are mandatory in your character's journal and you must provide a link to one once you are accepted. It's left to your discretion whether or not to allow anonymous comments and/or screen comments to the post.WORLD INFORMATION

COMMAND TOWER
Command Tower, Eddan's pride and unique spin on teamwork and sportsmanship. This game gained its roots in the 1900's by (I'll let someone else name the inventor). A local Chess Master and school vice-principal who wanted to give his love of this game more appeal for a wider audience. The spark that would create the fire of creativity for this game would come as (Inventor) watched his young grandson play knights with a few friends. The make believe act reminding him of various strategies used on his beloved checkered board that he suddenly saw the light of how to allow others insight into this wondrous world.
While many small concepts have been added and changed over the years to keep the appeal fresh and hip for each new generation, the heart of this game has remained the same.
CHESS PIECES AND YOU
King: Each side has one of these. (Don't let the title fool you, some of Eddan's best Kings have been cunning young ladies who knew how to spin a story and order her troops effortlessly.) To many this role is the key and linchpin of any successful team set up. For not only must your King be able command their troops using the best strategy in any given situation, they must also have the charisma and winning personality to keep their teamโs morale up and keep the crowds coming back for more. A special event added in the late 1950's was a segment between rounds where our Kings would jeer and rouse the crowd with speeches and taunts, as well as strut their stuff in fabulous outfits to show just how good it is to be King.
Queen: The terror of the field! Many players of CT have been known to admit that what turns a round into true suspense and blood pumping excitement is when the Queen starts to play. Each side luckily only gets one, to the relief of many pawn and knight players. A Queen has two roles to play depending on which side of the field they are on. A master of traps and hazards when it's time to defend. A good Queen makes any mindless charge a heavy cost if one isn't watching where they are going. On the flip side, best to duck and cover as a Queen on the attack is dangerous being indeed. Outfitted with a mobile turret this rapid fire threat can change the tide of battle easily if one doesn't take steps to avoid such. Being a Queen is to take opportunities and turn them to your advantage.
Rooks: Don't let their stationary positions fool you. These turrets high atop their towers can be the difference between a successful charge or a crushing defeat. While each side has two towers and thus two Rooks to defend, it's up to the rest to figure out just which tower holds the King. Good luck casually walking into said towers and knocking on the front door. A Rook doesn't take kindly to door to door conquerors. Their tanks of 100 pieces of ammo are very good at deterring such. (Don't worry Moms, those pieces of ammo are made from the best foam produced locally, just for these games. We take pride in safety and fun!) Not only are these players formidable weapons for offense and defense they're also a great bird's eye view of the field below. These eagle eyed sentries need to be on their toes to make certain no one is going to sneak up when they least expect it after all.
Knights: Fast, mobile, and dangerous. A good Knight can appear from anywhere and in quick movements have their opponents wondering what force of nature just ran through their ranks. Through the ages the means in which these four hit and run types have gotten around quickly has evolved, leading to the current incarnation of Heelies! The best Knights are of course decked out in Turbos - the local brand that have been tested and made just for CT players. Feet decked in Turbos and holding foam lances, these speedy little warriors are versatile and great for flanking strategies. Many games have been won by these speed junkies being willing to test the limits and find new and interesting ways to scale the tower. Many a highlight reel will include Knight vs Knight fights on the lower level of the towers due to speed and the fierceness of these battlers.
Bishops: These paired range fighters have varied their styles and use through the decades of the sport. Even this era with their foam crossbows have found ways in which to harass the opposing team and whittle away at them in order for the Knights to swoop in. Whether you play fearlessly and go in guns a'blazin or play the cautious route and prefer sneak attacks from on high, a Bishop has many options in which to even the score. Though be warned - what you've got ammo wise is only what you can carry. Plan well, else you'll find yourself clicking on empty. A Bishop is only limited by their ammo and their mobility - live the dream snipe from on high or defend the tower 'till the last. It's all possible.
Pawns: While seemingly unassuming to the untrained eye, these eight armored individuals are the backbone of any good team. Their shields have saved a number of strategies from destruction by blocking that lucky shot that would have taken out a Queen, and their almost reckless bravery has opened the way for a team victory. When in doubt a good King has been known to let their pawns run wild and be creative in their problem solving ways. If that wasn't enough, a Pawn has the important role of being the one that has reasons to ignore the towers and just make it to designated points on the opposing side of the map, for these special areas have caches of ammunition for their team's Queen. Making it to said caches and back to their team is fraught with danger but the reward is oft times worth the risk if a Queen can better trap or shoot their team to victory.
THE NAME OF THE GAME
A league standard game is scheduled for roughly two and a half to three hours, though delays have happened due to equipment malfunctions and those pesky odd events you just can't plan for, this is to allow for clean up and time for audience members to stretch and get a snack.
This time broken down into four matches, each consisting of three attack and three defense rounds for each team. At the start of the match a coin toss determines who will attack first and who will defend. Each side gets two minutes to prepare and set themselves up before the start of a round. They then have five minutes to complete their objective, be it storm and capture the King in his tower or push the attacking force back until time runs out. A round can also end if all units of one side are wiped out and thus the team with members standing wins that round.
Also note that while your players are 'revived' at the start of each round your ammo is not replenished, so conserve wisely if you wish to get through three rounds on top.
Once one set of three rounds is completed a short interval is had to reset the arena and refill ammo. This usually takes about ten minutes if our staff our in top form and nothing delays anything. Some have even made a bit of a race out of this to entertain the crowds by speedily cleaning as fast as they can to be the first done.
After two complete matches there is a about a twenty minute intermission to allow everyone a bit of a breather and to let our Kings strut their stuff for the audience. (At the end of game the King that got the highest popularity vote gets a small commemorative crown to show they were the best King.)
After four matches each team has their score counted and the one with the highest score wins!

While this means that GV does not really participate in district only tournaments they do have to gain enough points in order to go to the city-wide finals held during Fall Break.

FIGHT PARTY BUILDS
AU INFORMATION TABLE
Whereas the information in some of the other GDOCs may be added for you, players are encouraged to enter their own character's AU information here along with any specific notes they feel would be important to include.
COMMUNITIES
IC & OOC
AppleNET is the app that PCs use to navigate the electronic world of Recursion. An in-depth description of what it is, how it functions, and where it can be accessed from can be found here, along with a list of comm-specific codes that enable players to post to AppleNET in uniform fashion, thus adding to the overall game experience!
TORNHEART: The Logs Community
Where in-person activity can be logged between two or more characters and where event logs as well as narratives are put up by the moderators. There doesn't appear to be a set way to post logs (some people include Format or Warnings, for example) but the following code appears to be the standard:
HEARTSOUT: The OOC Community
This is where you can find individual player announcements, Activity Check announcements, AU Planning & Introduction posts, the Awakening Planning post, and the Player List. Occasionally memes are also posted here.
SKIPPEDABEAT: The Memes & Test Drive Community
The home of Recursion's Test Drive Meme and where you can find individual round Test Drive planning for AUs, Personas, and Tarots.
LUVR: The Adult (18+) Community
I'm going to go ahead and assume the role of this comm is self-explanatory, but just in case it isn't, this is the place where any and all adult-themed logs can be posted. It is acceptable to link from the main logs comm to this one should things between characters start to heat up, just so long as the appropriate warnings are applied to the source link.
While child characters are permitted in Recursion, they are not permitted to partake in any 18+ log for any reason.
